Mitre Teams Up with Sunday League legend Steve Bracknall of Royal Oak FC
Mitre has scored again, this time with a new signing off the pitch, teaming up with none other than the Assistant Manager of Royal Oak FC and self-proclaimed king of Sunday League, Steve Bracknall.
It’s a grassroots love story, a match made in muddy pitch heaven.
Royal Oak, currently climbing the ranks in the 4th tier of the Sheffield Sunday Imperial League, will now be kicking off their matches and training sessions with Mitre balls all season long. That’s right, Mitre will be supplying the gear that helps that all Sunday League players know and love.
Steve Bracknall couldn’t be happier.
“Royal Oak, like any decent team, want to play with a proper quality ball, and Mitre delivers on that, at all levels of the game,” says Bracknall. “Whether that’s training sessions with their Impel balls in the pouring rain or the Rolls Royce of footballs – the Ultimax Pro – at finals at Wembley. Like me, they’re real football through and through.”
And that’s why this partnership just makes sense. Bracknall has been a fan of Mitre since the early days of his career, and now he’s bringing that passion to the squad, inspiring players of Royal Oak and fans alike.
But it doesn’t stop there. You’ll be seeing a lot more of Bracknall. He’ll be popping up throughout the season (and into the next), giving fans a glimpse into the heart and humour of things to come with Mitre, events, partnerships and product launches.
In support of the announcement, A new film dropping soon on @mitresports socials, inspired by none other than Steve’s idol—rock’n’roll legend Liam Gallagher. Titled“20 Questions With…”, the interview takes place on a grassroots pitch and dives deep into the man standing pitch side, the assistant gaffer. From how he makes his brew, to who’d play him in a film and why Mitre has his footballing heart.
