FROM STAR-STUDDED STAGES TO SUNDAY LEAGUE
The Sherlocks and their pub/team, the Jolly Brewers FC, give Mitre a glimpse into their Sunday ritual.
Hailing from the village of Bolton upon Dearne in South Yorkshire - just under 50 miles from where we found ourselves on this sun-soaked Sunday - The Sherlocks are made up of brothers Kiaran and Brandon Crook, along with Alex Procter and Trent Jackson.
Like any proper indie-rock band, they got their start jamming covers in garages and playing working men’s clubs. But once they began writing original tracks, things snowballed. They’ve since sold-out tours across the UK and Europe, and shared stages with the likes of Liam Gallagher, Kings of Leon, Keane, Kaiser Chiefs, and The Libertines.

In 2023, The Jolly Brewer became their next big passion project. The band brought the same infectious energy from their music into this buzzing Lincoln pub. Speaking to Mitre, Brandon said:
“I’ve always wanted to own a pub, be involved in a pub - and it’s been a wild ride, but yeah, loving it.”
The Jolly Brewer has since become a sanctuary for musicians, locals, and Sunday League footballers alike.
It’s those football fanatics we came to Lincoln to meet. We wanted to see what a Sunday looks like for them - from the pitch to the beer garden.
The Jolly Brewer FC have taken the Lincoln Sunday League by storm. They entered the Premier Division in 2024 - and won it in their debut season. The club brought a whole new layer of pride and community to the much-loved local.
We joined the lads for their opening game of the 25/26 season. True to their rockstar reputation, they smashed it with a 4–1 win. Up the Brewers!
Post-match pints always taste better after a win—especially when they’re pulled at your own pub. That’s what Sunday looks like for this lot: a battle on the muddy pitch, then back to The Jolly Brewer for food, pints, and maybe a few games of pool.
“It’s like a family.”
“No one wants to go home after.”
“The Sherlocks being involved—yeah, we’re lucky to have them.”
Here at Mitre, we see this as Sunday League done right.
